Today, iPhone is popular in the world, but it is the result of the historical choice. History has shown that, Apple who have their own phone alternative multiple names, including "Telepod", "Mobi", "Tripod" or even "iPad".
Ken Segall, Apple advertising department director, has shared this unknown details at the meeting of the Marketing Institute of the University of Arizona.
Tripod meaning is fit for phone, iPod and networking equipment.
Finally, Apple chose the name iPhone,this is simple but very unique.
When the iPhone was released in the beginning, the name has sparked controversy, because Cisco has its IP telephony system registered the trademark "IPHONE", but these two companies eventually reached an agreement to share the "iPhone" brand.
